Ashtanga Yoga

What is Ashtanga Yoga?

Ashtanga yoga is a system of yoga recorded by the sage Vamana Rishi in the Yoga Korunta. To perform Ashtanga yoga, one must incorporate the use of vinyasa(breathing & movement) and tristhana(posture, breathing & looking).

Class content: Ashtanga Yoga, primary series practice class. As the name suggests the mobility classes are for strength building and endurance building. It results in building stamina and motivates the practitioner to understand Yoga.

Who can register? Anyone can be a part of this program. This program is for those who want to experience the flow of prana – the life energy, the breath itself. Through the regular and sustained practice of pranayama, one can supercharge the whole body. The very consciousness of the breath flow is experienced by the practitioners.

Yoga and Ayurveda go hand in hand. There will be a specialist in Ayurvedic Science at the Shala, who will guide and give consultation for problems or ailments that students want to discuss.

Ashtanga yoga or Yoga literally means “eight-limbed yoga,” as outlined by the sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. The Yogic Diet consultation will be provided at the Shala to practitioners in need of Yama and Niyama discipline into their life.

This session consists of chanting mantras in a group, that aims to bring inner harmony and peace. Anyone can attend chanting session as its a regular introductory and concluding ritual for students.
